The Attorney General’s Department is reportedly preparing to file charges against several former senior cabinet ministers and state ministers.
The most prominent case among these is the case against former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, which is to be filed in the next few days. The case is related to an alleged fraud in the importation of Human Immunoglobulin medicine.
In addition, the Criminal Investigation Department and the Bribery Commission have launched investigations to file cases against three other former cabinet ministers and five state ministers. Investigations have also been initiated against several former senior state officials. A separate investigation is also being conducted regarding politicians who received money from the President’s Fund.
The Attorney General has instructed his senior officials to file these cases quickly.
