The current government has provided special patronage for this year’s Sri Dalada exhibition. However, unlike previous events, there will be no special passes or VIP queues. The President has reportedly advised against such special religious services for dignitaries.
To ensure the provision of safe and healthy food for the large crowds visiting Kandy for the Dalada veneration, the Kandy Municipal Council has established health inspector teams under the guidance of Dr. Pasan Jayasinghe, Specialist in Community Medicine.
The Diyawadana Nilame has organized a dansala to provide lunch for devotees, which will feed 35,000 people per day, according to a spokesperson for the Dalada Maligawa.
Under full government patronage, all public services have been assigned to the respective heads of state institutions. The opportunity to worship the Dalada will be provided for 65,000 people per day, from 2:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
